Getting the data into the hands of the people was a manual process. We brought the power of the data into the hands of the ones responsible for managing it.
The Problem:
Data and information resided in finance. Project Managers were lone rangers and would only get information on a monthly basis or only when they asked someone for it. This created a bottle neck of information and the information that they did get was old and reaction times were slow.
The Solution:
We connected the Project Managers and Project Control with data feeds from their system that refreshed automatically every 6 hours during the weekday. This data was customized so that it could be installed into an Excel spreadsheet and populate project actuals. Not only did this speed up the process but it also empowered the users with solid, agreed upon data that could be updated with near real time data and allowed them to make more informed decisions.
